FiiO FD7 - The king of in-ear headphones
The FiiO FD7 in-ear headphones at a glance: In-ear headphones are a dime a dozen, but few are as rigorously engineered and constructed as the FiiO FD7. Pure beryllium drivers, customisable sound and the acoustic prism ensure uncompromising sound, packed into a beautiful, robust and classy housing.
The highlights of the FiiO FD7 at a glance:
Light, strong and fast - Pure beryllium diaphragm material.
Acoustic prism integrated - For optimal time response
"Volcanic field" built in - Deep, clean bass guaranteed
Sound individually adjustable - With two sound tubes and many accessories
Elegant and robust housing - Made of high-quality stainless steel
Pure beryllium for pure sound - Consistent and high quality
As with classic loudspeakers, headphones are subject to what is actually a contradictory requirement: The drivers should react as quickly as possible to any change in the sound, so they must be correspondingly light and thin. At the same time, however, they should be resistant to sound-damaging distortion, which in turn means they have to be heavy and bulky.
FiiO resolves this contradiction with a membrane made of pure beryllium. This material effectively combines "the best of both worlds", being four times stronger than steel while weighing only a quarter of titanium. It is therefore extremely light, enabling the diaphragm to respond to the finest details and crispest impulses with virtually no delay. On the other hand, beryllium also has an extremely high internal damping, which reduces distortion to an absolute minimum. This makes beryllium almost the only material worthy of a genuine high-end in-ear.
Optimum sound distribution guaranteed - thanks to acoustic prism
An in-ear headphone like the FiiO FD7 has to perform a whole series of feats. One of them is to produce bass, midrange and treble at the same time and bring them to the ear. And they have to do it in such a way that all sound waves arrive at the eardrum at the same time, otherwise the virtual stage, the precision and the timing suffer.
To prevent this from happening in the FiiO FD7, FiiO has installed an acoustic prism in front of the driver, which optimally focuses the airflow and harmonises the timing of the individual sound components. You've rarely heard music so accurate and to the point. Promised.
Deep, clean bass - paired with high sound quality
If there's one thing the FiiO FD7 is particularly good at, it's moving air - and delivering rich, powerful bass. This is not without its problems: the air is swirled around in the housing and pressure must be equalised, otherwise this effect will be unpleasantly noticeable on the sensitive eardrum.
This is why the FiiO FD7 is realised as a semi-open design, in order to always maintain exactly the right balance between pressure and naturalness. This not only makes listening more fun - especially during long listening sessions - but also protects your sensitive hearing.
No chance for standing waves - thanks to the built-in "breakwater
The semi-open design of the FiiO FD7 allows for rapid pressure equalisation, ensuring that too much pressure never builds up in the housing, which would otherwise tire your ears and spoil the fun of listening to music. However, this still does not solve one problem: standing waves.
This is exactly what the wave breaker built into the enclosure, the "Volcanic Field" on the back of the enclosure, takes care of. It breaks the standing waves in the enclosure and thus also ensures hours of fatigue-free music listening without annoying distortions in the bass.
Listen to what you want - in just a few steps
The headline may sound a little provocative, but it's true. Everyone decides for themselves what "good sound" is. And with the FiiO FD7, you can do so without any problems.
This is made possible by the three sound tubes, which differ in sound; sound is a very personal matter. And as much effort as FiiO puts into guaranteeing excellent sound, they don't know what that means for you personally. With the two interchangeable Sound Tubes, which give the in-ear headphones a more bass-driven, neutral or high-resolution sound character if you wish. Just try it out, you will be thrilled.
High-purity silver in the entire headphone cable - uncompromising quality
When it comes to music, every detail counts. Just like the headphone cable that comes with the headphones. FiiO knows this and makes no compromises. For the connection from the plug to the headphones, 224 individual conductors made of monocrystalline silver are used, all of which together ensure a lively and crystal-clear sound
And to top it all off, the cable has not just one, but three different connection variants. There is a choice of 2.5 mm balanced jack, 3.5 mm jack and 4.4 mm balanced jack, all three of which are of course included and can be exchanged in no time at all.
An exciting detail about the MMCX connectors on the headphone side: these are now slightly screwed in to ensure even greater wearing comfort.
Stainless steel housing - light, robust and acoustically perfect
Precision-engineered down to the last detail, the stainless steel housing gives the FiiO FD7 an extra-special shine. And the colour scheme of deep black with gold accents only makes the FiiO FD7 look more sophisticated.
Accessories as far as the eye can see - There's something for everyone
Sound is individual, and so are the ear tips on the FiiO FD7. You have a choice of three different ear tips with bass-emphasised character, balanced character and voice-emphasised character. For noisy environments, there are two pairs of Triple Flange Ear-Tips (S and L), three pairs of SpinFit Ear-Tips and two pairs of Foam Tips (S and L) for particularly sensitive ears.
Also included: an elegant storage box, the three Sound Tubes, a cleaning brush for cleaning after longer use, the headphone cable, a magnetic cable organiser, the three connection plugs and the MMCX ASSIST. Don't know about it? You will learn to love it when you try to detach the MMCX cable from the headphones. Promised.
