Naturally magical colors, gracefully enchanting purple
The creation of the FT13's wooden ear cups
Following the success of our FT1 wooden headphones, FiiO began searching for new types of wood to bring their unique appeal to more people. This time, FiiOs search led them to a “purple treasure” from the ancient rainforests of South America: purpleheart wood. This wood is not only exceptionally hard, but also captivates with its unique color. Over time, its light brown hue gradually transforms into an unforgettable, deep purple. Creating the vibrant wooden ear cups requires a blend of nature's magic and FiiO's meticulous craftsmanship.
Purpleheart has been used for instruments, furniture, and other items since the 1920s. After a long journey from South America, the wood arrives in Lianyungang, Jiangsu, where it is stabilized in a hot oven and cut with precision. It is then stored for months in a dark room, where it slowly “develops” its fascinating wine-red color. This wood then undergoes a final, intensive process of selection, cutting, CNC carving, polishing, and varnishing before it is ready for the final product.
Due to its rarity in nature, purple has long been considered a symbol of mystery, power, and individuality—with deep cultural significance. It is precisely this color, which ages beautifully over time, that is our inspiration. It allows us to perfectly express the original intention of our wooden headphone series—to blend into the natural world and age elegantly over time.

Ear cups made from natural purpleheart wood
Natural colors, solid and hard
The headphone ear cups are made from purpleheart wood, a type of wood native to South America. To achieve its rich color, each piece of wood is left to age naturally for 90 days. Due to their individual characteristics, each wooden ear cup has a unique grain and color tone, making each pair of headphones truly one of a kind.
The raw wood is first cut to size with precision using CNC milling. To achieve a perfect finish, FiiO then apply a high-gloss lacquering process in which the wood is repeatedly sanded, polished, and the natural pores and unevenness are filled until the surface is completely smooth. Finally, a final coat of high-gloss lacquer is applied, bringing out the unique, natural grain of the wood.
With a density and hardness far exceeding that of ordinary woods, purpleheart wood is not only naturally corrosion-resistant, but also helps to minimize resonance in the headphone ear cups. The result is a faster and clearer sound.
*This wood comes from the tropical rainforests of South America and is known for its stunning purple-brown color and superior strength. It is often used for high-quality furniture, musical instruments, and decorative items. Its unique color is not artificially applied, but is the result of natural oxidation. With prolonged exposure to light and air, the color of the wood gradually darkens, eventually taking on a deeper purple-brown or chestnut hue.

Large 60 mm dynamic driver
Enjoy deep bass and a wide soundstage
Like the FT1, the FT13 features a massive 60 mm dynamic driver, a size that is almost unheard of in its category. This larger driver produces more power and converts electrical signals into sound more efficiently. The result is sound with less distortion, faster transients, and deeper, more powerful bass.

Wool composite nanofiber wood cone
European wood, honed from over 100 years of paper manufacturing expertise
The new cone is made from birch wood sourced from the cold climates of Europe. The extreme cold makes the wood incredibly hard and gives it strong fibers. This unique property allows us to precisely tune the resistance and stiffness of the diaphragm during manufacturing to achieve our desired sound goals.
Using the same traditional paper-making process as for the FT1 cone, a method that has been around for over 100 years and is still widely used by various hi-fi brands, the raw materials are processed into pulp through soaking, steaming, and beating. During this process, lighter and harder carbon fiber threads are added to increase the stiffness of the diaphragm and reduce unwanted breakage, improving detail in the high frequency range. The diaphragm is then baked and molded to a thickness of only 0.1 mm.
By adding wool fibers to the paper diaphragm, FiiO take advantage of their natural flexibility to fine-tune the sound. This gives the finished diaphragm a uniquely natural and warm sound character that is both captivating and profoundly emotional.

W-shaped diaphragm
Proprietary acoustic technology for higher efficiency
The headphones feature a W-shaped diaphragm design inspired by speaker diaphragms. Compared to the driver diaphragms typically used in headphones, this design increases the effective vibration area of the diaphragm by 25.8%.
The diaphragm consists of a hard dome and a flexible surround. This rigid dome covers a larger surface area than conventional diaphragms, and since it is driven directly by the voice coil, less energy is lost during vibration transmission. Compared to a more flexible material, the hard dome has lower internal losses, resulting in higher efficiency and lower distortion due to driver breakup.

Closed design
Greater immersion through reduced noise, enjoy pure, quiet sound
Beyond the natural isolation of its closed wooden ear cups, the FT13 features an integrated system of passive noise reduction components. These include a standing wave dissipation chamber, specially designed sound-absorbing cotton in the rear cavity, and a noise-reducing U-shaped tube. Together, these components can reduce everyday ambient noise by up to 26 dB. The closed design also prevents sound from escaping, making the headphones perfect for quiet environments such as offices, libraries, or dorm rooms without disturbing others.

U-shaped damping tube
An invisible hand that reduces resonance
Inside the FT13, a U-shaped damping tube cleverly uses the air inside the headphones to tune the sound. The design of this tube has been carefully optimized to lower the resonance frequency of the cavity, resulting in deeper, higher-quality bass.

Low impedance, high sensitivity, easy to drive
Your entry-level headphones
The impedance, sensitivity, and frequency response of the FT13 make it the ideal choice for listeners taking their first steps into the world of personal audio equipment. It pairs perfectly with popular, non-audiophile devices such as smartphones, tablets, and PCs. Experience high-fidelity sound in audiophile quality without having to invest in expensive or complex equipment.

Large CCAW voice coil
Lightweight, wide, powerful
The FT13 features a CCAW voice coil imported from Japan with an ultra-thin 0.035 mm wire and a lightweight KSV body. These components significantly reduce the moving mass of the diaphragm, resulting in faster sound reproduction and less unnecessary reverberation.
The voice coil has a diameter of 25 mm. In a fixed magnetic field and at constant current, a larger coil diameter means a longer voice coil wire. A longer copper wire thus results in greater driving force and higher efficiency, leading to a richer midrange and faster transients.

Adjustable magnesium alloy headband
Advanced materials, improved comfort
The FT13 offers a significant improvement in headband comfort through comprehensive improvements in materials, aesthetics, and ergonomics.
The outer U-shaped frame is now made of a strong and lightweight magnesium alloy that blends seamlessly into the design of the headphones. The ball-bearing slider features a high-quality design found in high-end headphones, offering a silky-smooth adjustment with clear feedback, while the swivel joints and connections are more robust than ever. The part of the headband that comes into contact with your head has been replaced with soft, durable lambskin leather, which is both more durable and breathable than the synthetic leather commonly used, providing greater comfort during longer listening sessions.

Three-axis swivel mechanism
Swivels as desired, freely adjustable
After extensive ergonomic testing, FiiO implemented a three-axis adaptive swivel mechanism that continues the FT series' tradition of excellent ergonomics. This design not only ensures that the headphones comfortably adapt to different head sizes and shapes, but also allows for a perfect fit without sound leakage.

Angled driver design
Reduces standing waves for clearer sound
In the FT13, the acoustic drivers are angled to run parallel to your ear canals, so the sound reaches your eardrums directly. This not only reduces the high-frequency drop you would get with a conventional design, but also minimizes standing waves inside the ear cups. The result is a much clearer, purer sound with less distortion.

Furukawa monocrystalline copper + silver-plated oxygen-free copper
Improved cable, improved sound
This cable is constructed with an 8-strand braided design and contains a total of 1,000 conductor wires. It is a blend of 500 secondary-melted Furukawa single-crystal copper wire conductors and 500 oxygen-free silver-plated copper wire conductors, each with a polarity of 17 AWG. This combination of high-quality metals and advanced processing techniques enables the cable to deliver truly outstanding sound quality.
Furukawa single-crystal copper Increases the richness and density of the midrange and improves bass quality, making the mid and low frequencies sound full and emotional.
Silver-plated oxygen-free copper, the silver plating helps to improve the conductivity and high-frequency transmission characteristics of the copper, enhancing sound transparency with more detail and optimized overtones, as well as an expanded soundstage.

Lambskin/suede ear pads
Velvety texture, reliably durable
Two types of ear pads are included, both of which feature a skin-friendly, breathable, and durable outer material. Inside the ear pads is a low-density, slow-rebound memory foam that conforms to the shape of the ear. Compared to the synthetic leather ear pads commonly used in headphones, these offer both greater comfort and a longer service life.
The high-quality ear pads made of natural lambskin have a velvety smooth surface that is also breathable, sweat-resistant, and easy to clean. In terms of sound, these ear pads deliver detailed highs, clear and clean mids, and fast bass.
The suede ear pads have a matte texture, are durable and flexible, yet cool and breathable. In terms of sound, these ear pads enhance the bass, add richness to vocals, and enhance the sense of atmosphere.

3 significant improvements
Improved sound: Compared to the spruce wood diaphragm of the FT1, the FT13 features a birch wood diaphragm that is many times harder to improve the precision of the diaphragm. In addition, carbon fiber has been added to increase the stiffness of the diaphragm and reduce unwanted driver interruptions, resulting in higher treble resolution compared to the FT1.
Improved cable: Compared to the FT1's silver-plated oxygen-free copper cable, the FT13's secondary-refined Furukawa monocrystal copper and high-purity oxygen-free silver-plated copper cables are an improvement in every respect. The materials used, the number of wires, and even the wire diameter have been improved, resulting in a comprehensive improvement across the entire frequency range (lows, mids, and highs).
Improved comfort: Compared to the FT1, the FT13 offers comprehensive ergonomic improvements. Both the headband and ear pads have been replaced with more breathable materials that are also wear-resistant and less prone to flaking. The headband is made of a lighter magnesium-aluminum alloy, and the feel and design of the ball-bearing slider have been improved.
