To achieve its rich color, each piece of wood is left to age naturally for 90 days. Due to their individual characteristics, each wooden ear cup has a unique grain and color tone, making each pair of headphones truly one of a kind. The raw wood is first cut to size with precision using CNC milling. To achieve a perfect finish, FiiO then apply a high-gloss lacquering process in which the wood is repeatedly sanded, polished, and the natural pores and unevenness are filled until the surface is completely smooth. Finally, a final coat of high-gloss lacquer is applied, bringing out the unique, natural grain of the wood. With a density and hardness far exceeding that of ordinary woods, purpleheart wood is not only naturally corrosion-resistant, but also helps to minimize resonance in the headphone ear cups.
